Classic British Flight Sim

Hi Chaps

I've wanted a tablet for ages.. not sure why exactly.. maybe because there are such things Anyway.. having resisted for a L O N G time, we had a couple up in the Black Friday sales. Didn't want an Android tablet and these were Win10 (Linx) which seemed to fit the bill. Pointless having a titchy tablet if you can't see what's on the b1oody things and the ones we were selling were 10.1" which again ticket a box. So.. I bought one last night as there were only 2 left at the reduced (£60 off) price

Got it home.. put it on charge.. then turned it on (when charged) and set about setting it up. Dead easy it has to be said. What came as a HUGE surprise was when it had finished doing its thing and the main screen came up.. it was exactly the same as my Win10 laptop.. INCLUDING a picture of my dear old Labrador as the wallpaper Noting I don't use the Cloud (I switched the option off at the install stage of both the laptop and tablet).. how the hell did it this

Makes you wonder just how closely we're being watched doesn't it

I've got one of those Linx 10" tablets as well (had it for a while). Not a bad piece of kit for the money. Even tried FSX-Steam on it. Took about a month to load, but the frame rates were surprisingly good.

What do you do for AV on it Dave.. or haven't you bothered?

Just the default Windows Defender stuff Dave.

OK mate. I've looked for defender on it but see no sign. Wonder if it's because it's Win10(mobile)? Wandering around Microsoft didn't yield much

My W10 laptop keeps pace with my W8.1, same splash screens, e-mails......its in the set up of W10 IIRC & having WiFi. Passwords the same...

Yep.. I guess it could be to do with the way Win8/10 uses email as a password to identify the user as well as the machine. I've set the tablet up to use a pin instead but of course.. it still knows it's me.. as does Microsoft.

Dave.. re AV. Despite me thinking the tablet had none, Defender popped up last night saying it needed to update definitions. I attempted to do this just as my broadband dropped (second time in 3 days ). I've since tried to find it so I can update it and I can't. This is what I don't like about Win8/10.. I can't bloody find anything!! Can you (or anyone else for that matter) point me in the right direction please.

If you go to "settings" then "update and security" it should be there.
BTW, you may want to look at "Classic Shell" (http://www.classicshell.net/) for a more familiar look.

It already has classic shell.. must have copied it from the Win10 laptop! Settings.. of course

I tell you what.. updating takes years. Been at it over an hour already. Hope the battery will last

Hmm..

I'm already wondering about the wisdom of this fine purchase. This particular tablet came with 16gig internal memory (its the only version we do) which I thought would be adequate. Formatted.. this comes to 14.1gig of which around 7gig was the OS. After 2hours of updates.. freespace is down to 3.47gig and there are still a couple of updates to go. They wouldn't install (graphics driver updates plus.. I guess.. a few more hidden away) so I hit Fix Problem. It reported I needed 5.06gig of space and didn't have enough on C:. What sort of upgrade is 5gig?? I have a 32gig sim as storage (28.7 formatted) but I don't really want to use that for Windows updates.

I wonder now how long this will last before I have no further space for windows updates or anything else. I've put one game on it for SWMBO (41mb) and already.. I don't have enough space for updates.
