The need for speed...

Prompted by an unscheduled purchase and mention of Sim Skunk Works models, I felt the urge to take up their F104G..
As mentioned in the other thread.. this girl can bite and bite hard. I was setup to land and expecting a sharp L wing drop if the throttle was too low as I touched down and.. the right wing dropped. I walked away but it was definitely NOT one of those landings you want to watch on instant replay

Note to self.. RIGHT WING DROP, NOT LEFT!!

Good series there, Dave
You've dragged an oldie out of the cupboard there!
We look forward to your test pilot report, comparing this with your other recent ventures. (Or is this an old one for you, too?)
A Starfighter was one of the earliest construction kits I built, btw

Hiya Mike
This is an old one for me too.. bought it last year. It doesn't get flown much.. due in part to the fact I spend a lot of my time flying to and around ships but it does get flown.. usually long distance. If I fancy going somewhere different but don't have a great deal of time.. say Geneva to Wunstorf or Culdrose to Gib.. this fits the bill perfectly. Believe it or not.. I think that's the first time I've ever loaded bangers. My usual choice is tip tanks.. for obvious reasons
As with everything else on this model.. even the use of tip tanks is correctly programmed. You can load such things on a host of other models and they just work.. in default FS mode. With the Starfighter, they don't.. you have to switch them online and keep an eye on their levels. When they reach a pre-determined level, you have to switch the pumps off and go to main tanks. Failure to do this will see you flying very quietly and very quickly to mother earth

Many of the instruments require RTFM in order to operate them and I've not done a great deal of that

Under the circumstances.. it's a wonder I've managed to get anywhere in it

It's fun though and that's what it's all about
