DX10

Having seen heard that quite a few people are DX10'ers in FSX so are there any benefits associated in going that way such as improved performance/looks etc?
Also, if one finds that DX10 is not up their street can you revert back to DX9 or whatever it's called?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Nigel.

DX10 is only an option if you have FSX SP2 or Acceleration (don't think it's in SP1, but I could be wrong!), and are using Win7 or later with a DX10 capable video card.
It's simply a matter of checking the tick box in the graphics settings in FSX and re-starting the sim. If you want to revert, simply untick the box.
That said, DX10 mode as shipped has several bugs. There are some free fixes available on Avsim which do fix many, but not all, of the problems. There is a payware DX10 Fixer by the same chap who did the free fixes, which will fix the vast majority, but there will always be some quirks remaining. If you intend using old FS9 aircraft, then you'll need the Fixer.
Most find DX10 gives slightly better frame rates, plus you get VC shadowing. Anti-aliasing needs to be set up in a certain way, or it doesn't work.
Best to just try ticking the box for now and see how you get on. If you decide you want to go that way, then the DX10 Fixer is highly recommended.

'Scuse me Kind Sirs,
How about us DX11 users? Does that overcome DX10 bugs please?

FSX only works in DX9 or 10, so even if you have DX11, when you run FS it still runs in DX9 (or 10) mode so any issues remain.
P3dv2, on the other hand does use DX11.

Many thnaks for the information Dave, as I am not on the internet at home I may very well leave it alone for the time being due to being restricted on getting updates.
