Can anybody tell me whether V2 of Vol 1 a worthy update, please? 35 quid would be a big outlay.
I have Vol 1 V1.

I think so Mike. Garry has revamped the airfields for V2 quite a bit and they look much better & more detailed.
There was a 50% discount for Vol1 V1 owners but I'm not sure if that's still available. Worth logging in to your account and look at your V1 order. If the discount is still available it should tell you.

Mike,
I had / have version 1 of all 3 volumes on disc, and Gary was generous enough to give me the discount on version 2 of volumes 1 and 2. If you didn't buy your version 1 directly from his store, all you need to do is create an account there (if you don't already have one) and drop him a message about it. If you did buy directly, as Dave says, you should have a link to buy version 2 at a discount waiting for you ...
By the way, the differences in volume 2 version 2 are well worth the effort. Now, as they say, I "can't" wait for version 2 of volume 3 to complete the set,
HTH,
Ro

Thanks Gentlemen, your opinions taken on board.
I had bought via ES, so I sent the details to Gary. This morning, received that half price update offer. That puts it within my budget.
I'll most likely take it up.

grabbed and installed that last night, don't know what it improves, but I saw a bunch of airliner textures being transferred.
Probably suits larger airports, but there were other textures which might tizzy up everything.

I think it would probably be for the statics Mike, but I don't use them - much prefer the extra parking spaces.

Maybe you guys might be able to help and advise as to which direction I should go regarding UK 2000 airports.
I have often browsed through the individual payware ones such as East Midlands Bristol Manchester etc but being financially limited until I reach 65 for my state pension in 14 months time I have just rely on my company pension which does not leave me much for any extras.
I had thought about probably buying one airport every couple of months but with the VFR Airfields each being the price they are and what is included, would it be better long term until I get my pension through to just go with the Airfields V2 versions rather than having to wait months in-between purchases of Gary's individual payware airports? I currently run FTX ENgland Wales and Scotland as well as Global. The local airfields such as Wickenby, Biggin Hill are reasonably well represented but what I do need is improved major airports to make my flight simulation that bit better.
Any advice would be extremely welcome.
Kind regards
Nigel.

I had nothing at all to do with this set (I only test his FS9 airfields) but it's worth noting that the difference between Vol1 v1 and Vol1 v2 was very noticeable indeed. It's probably true to say that the original Vol2 was better than Vol1 and likewise.. his original Vol3 was better in many ways than Vol2 and a fair bit more than Vol1. I've no doubt that Vol2 v2 will, in certain areas, be a little better than Vol1 v2 as he learns new things all the time so each release is just a little better than the last.
The Common Library has become an important part of the VFR volumes and Xtreme series as it contains everything 'generic' across the UK2K sceneries and with each improvement/release.. the CL gets updated to show new/better/improved scenery objects. You may not see all of what the CL contains.. especially if you only fly to specific airfields/types of airfield but it contains everything you need should you go somewhere different.. a large airport for example
Late Edit..
Nigel.. it makes sense to get the VFR series for so many reasons.. not least of all because they not only get rid of the horrible default stuff but they fill in gaps adding airfields where Mr MS didn't. The major airports in each volume are also represented and are based on 'reduced' versions of current Xtreme series so while you won't get all the bells and whistles the Xtreme series offer.. you'll get a very good representation of how a particular airport is now with all main buldings present and the correct 'current' layout.
