Poor Ickie

Poor Ickie at Sim Outhouse. His aircon has gone t*ts up and he's broke, can't afford a new one. He's asking for crowd funding for a new one. I'm sure DaveB and DaveG will step up to the plate. Eh?

But it's a good idea. Now I need a new pooter to replace my old XP setup. Also some new green wellies, it gets very cold and wet in this bog where I live. I take any denomination and currency. Especially Scottish and IOM twenties.

Well it works over there.

I believe you've tried this once before Fungus. Did you spend all your donations or didn't you get any?

It's not quite as you paint it unfortunately and the underlying sarcasm in your post was not required and in extremely bad taste.

Ickie is the man who keeps SOH going on a day to day basis, he's the one who puts in 14-18 hours work every day keeping out the hackers and spambots to keep SOH up and running. He's also not a well man, he has at least two heart attacks (afib type) per month if not more. They are supposed to be controlled by medication but often the meds do not work and he spends hours in a lot of pain and severe discomfort. He lives in Florida in a trailer park for retired veterans and really needs the AC for health reasons. In addition there is talk of moving the physical SOH server to his home location as the cost of hosting SOH at a server farm is getting astronomical each year due to the amount of bandwidth consumed by the very popular forums and the much used file library. If the server is re-located then AC would be a must in order to keep the server cool enough to run 24/7 at the speed required.

As much as you would like to believe that Ickie is scamming the membership at SOH that is simply not the truth.

Hi there Larry, :hello:

Thanks for letting us know how much the man does for the simming community, and his sad condition, not to mention the hardware requirement.
I remember the line on "Seinfeld" years ago: "If you believe it, it's not a lie."
I doubt that Fungus would have made his joke if he was fully aware of the situation. Under the circumstances, perhaps Fungus may feel like apologising, and maybe you may re-consider whether his joke was indeed extremely bad taste.
I realise that I carry no weight on this forum, I'm just a contributor, not an administrator; but there's my view, for what it's worth.
