UK Huey's

Hi Chaps
I recently stumbled over a PK for the MV/ND Huey published by krazycolin over at the Outhouse. This differs from the one released by Nemeth in that it's not as restricted and you can actually paint with it. Why Nemeth cut it to buggery is beyond me but there you go. Both examples shown are UK registered
G-HUEY late: painted to represent a helicopter of the 121st Assault Helicopter Company
G-HUEY earlier: painted in an all-over green with it's UK reg clearly visible
The 'other' UK registered Huey I can find.. G-UHIH as she's painted now representing 129th Assault Helicopter Company
G-HUEY is actually ex-Argentine army. It was 'liberated' during the Falklands conflict and brought back to the UK

G-UHIH is a real-world Vietnam vet purchased as surplus to requirements and shipped over to Blighty

Pete (Motormouse) had contact with 'HUEY' when it was down South and was involved with it's removal

It was white, with a greenish colour band round the tailboom when it was taken under new management
'down south'. Flew in same scheme for a bit back here , then got a rather fetching black scheme with
Rainbow stripes while flying as a charity fund raiser. Plenty of pics on-line, but I think the stripes would be a challenge!

Hi Pete
Yes.. I've seen both mate. I discounted the black/rainbow paint straight away

I'll probably knock-up the original white scheme at some point though. Do you know what got me started on this? James Bond! I was watching 'The Living Daylights' the other day and in one scene, a 'supposed' Russian defector is kidnapped from a high security debriefing. The kidnappers arrive in an air ambulance then take off with him. The air ambulance is a white Huey with a yellowish/green band on the boom with it's registration clearly visible.. G-HUEY. So.. I started looking
Problem with the white scheme is that no 2 pictures are the same

A bit of artistic license is required me thinks

Look at Rob Tierney's web site.
He was the one that, er, borrowed it from Argentines after they left it behind

Okey doh Pete.. I'll have a look
Incidentally, in true 'movie' continuation style.. I found a 'Living Daylights' promo shot today showing HUEY wearing the black/rainbow scheme. Not bad as she appears in the film in a variation of her original white with yellow/green band
EDIT: I can only find him on Huey.co.uk (and I'd already found that). Although there are shots of Huey's from around the world, the main thrust is obviously '509'. Couldn't see anything there of G-HUEY

IIRC it got painted in the stripes after Living Daylights was filmed, but film was released after paint job
was done, if that makes sense.

Ps clicky the link in my post above. 2 pics of white huey

Yup. Someone obviously requested a shot for the promo stuff and got her in the new paint rather than that 'featured'

As I said.. it was in true movie continuation style. How often you see a shot of an aircraft then you might see it crashing and the one crashing (or crashed) isn't the same one.
Here's a clip of her on the film set.., ironically hosted by an Argentinian on imageshack!!

G-UHIH (or "Huey 509" as she is called on the radio) is based five miles from me, I have flown in the back of it a couple of times; and spoken to it on the radio countless times.

Well done that man

Always wanted a go in one but doubt I ever will. If you ever get your hands on the Nemeth/Milviz Huey.. I'll send you that paint of 509.. if you want it that is
