Some people never really saw Vanguards, very rare in some places. BEA only ever landed two in Southampton. One charter and one diversion both in the sixties. Don't know if anyone else flew them in there but certainly not common.

I remember Invicta Vanguards in Blackpool.

Invicta gave many airports their only taste of the type. Bristol would be another and Manston.
It's easy to forget that some types are not common. In the CI the sheer amount of Herald and Trislander movement belie the true rarity of the type. Heathrow spotter going up the airport at 03:00 to see a Channel Express Herald.
A friend of mine in New Zealand didn't get the Viscount locally. He is in his mid fifties but has never seen a Viscount, Herald, Trident or Vanguard.
Superfreighters were rare away from their normal haunts as were Tridents
