At home with the Ansons

I've been installing some more of Peter Watkins' excellent repaints for the FS Add-Ons Anson. These locations have some relevance to the actual aircraft, so in this first one, we see Anson Mk.1 K6163 above present-day Upavon, where she was based in 1937 with the RAF's Central Flying School.

Although I tend to favour British and Commonwealth repaints, I particularly liked this one of Peter's - an Afghan Air Force C.18, shown flying near Bagram.

This aircraft is currently being restored at the North East Aircraft Museum in Sunderland. That's Sunderland in the background.

More to come but in the meantime, Peter, thanks very much for these repaints. The variety and quality of your work is top notch, and does the Anson proud.

Have only just found this thread! Many thanks for the kind words Paul and Dave. The Anson exercise was quite a learning experience for me, creating a whole paintkit from scratch, but I was too impatient to wait for Simon's official release! Having made the immense effort(for me!) I thought I would give the paintkits a lot of use although I have never painted 50 schemes for one aircraft before. Glad that you enjoyed them.

Peter

Peter, are you considering any more Anson repaints ? If so, would you consider doing an Adastra Aerial Surveys one ? :)

The FS Add-Ons Hudson comes with an Adastra repaint so it would be nice to add to the fleet, so to speak. And talking of the Hudson, have you done any repaints for that, or don't you own it ?

Has anyone had trouble downloading the FS Addon Anson? I'm on about my twentieth go and it keeps dropping out at between 60% and 98% (GRRRR!) done of the 438M. I don't normally have trouble with downloads.

No problem here John, though it was a while ago, and I only did it once. Have you tried using a download manager ? It usually sorts me out, particularly with downloads from Orbx. You can try it for free, just to get your Anson:

Don't know why or how it works, but it does. Make a note of where it downloads to, though :)

Ha Ha Paul, you've twigged that the civil MK1 is the only FSAddon Anson version I did not paint! I stopped painting the Anson when I reached 50 paints but I can go back to it again at some stage and will have a shot at the Adastra aircraft.
Yes I have the Hudson and will eventually get round to painting a few examples. I am currently in the middle of a red Queens Flight version of the FR Heron. I am conscious of the need to get Heron repaints out of the way before the AH Dove becomes available!
Add to this the upcoming DH Dragonfly and Dragon and revamping Rob Richardson's Vampire/Venom paints that are no longer available due to the demise of BritSim, you can see that DH products are going to keep me busy over the coming weeks/months.

cheers, Peter

Thanks Paul, I tried with a download manager - I regularly use FDM and usually its fine - but no joy. In the end I've solved it by downloading using Internet Explorer, though that may just be a coincidence. Anyway thanks for the suggestion now its onwards and upwards! Peter, I rarely twig anything, let alone you hadn't done the civil Mk1. Good news that you might turn your attentions to the Hudson - I look forward to it, and all your other repaints.
