Has anyone corrected the missing or incorrect upper wing roundels on the RAF machines?
Its a pity as otherwise these are nice models - if but a little too clean.

Hi Mike
No.. not to the best of my knowledge. Though I love the idea of a Hudson.. I don't like this one much I'm afraid. It'll take-off out of a field.. the textures are, as you pointed out, far too clean to be convincing and seeing out of the bloody thing is a nightmare. I don't like things I can't see out of to land and with the side pillar smack bang in your face on the model.. seeing around it is almost impossible. I find the trim over geared too. Other than this.. it's ok

PaulK is a fan though he's never mentioned the roundels or more worn textures.

Mike, be warned - it's a nice model(s), but the roundels need fixing and the textures need to be a tad more dirty...oh hang on, belay that, I see Dave's just mentioned them.
Actually, I was flying the Mk3 Civil earlier this evening ( the one in the free expansion pack with the Adastra Aerial Surveys livery ) and...Dave... once again I tested the pitch trim, which I know you aren't happy with. Got it trimmed perfectly, and it returned to level flight ( with some yoke assistance ) even after quite steep turns. Don't know whats going on there, and why the difference between our experiences. FSUIPC maybe ? I have all my axis calibrated there and maybe that accounts for sensitivities.
I agree very much with you about the very short take-off run however, and something else I noticed this evening - the cylinder head temperatures were off the scale, no matter how much I throttled back and increased speed by diving. The needles only came back down once I had landed at RAF Raydon and switched off. I wonder if Francois and Simon would be open to some more suggestions to improve what is, in my opinion, a very significant FS package.
Oh and just for the record, I did mention the textures ..in the opening sentence in fact..

Hi Paul
No.. what I meant was that you'd not mentioned you'd
found any worn textures.. not that the textures looked too clean. My bad.. I didn't phrase it correctly

Ah I see..so you mean I'd not discovered the lack of dirty textures, but suspected I might not have missed the presence textures that were. Its all clear now.

I think that's a no then, no one has tried to correct the upper wing markings?

I'm giving up on this!

I speak to you now on a new install of Win7 having lost my previous to a sudden mystery illness (a particularly vicious virus) so I'm in the process of.. well.. you know what it's like when you have to do this. It's starting from scratch
Anyhoo (trying again).. you did mention how clean the original paints looked but had at no point mentioned you'd come across any 'worn' repaints. I think I've had a look since getting it but can't remember if I downloaded any if any existed. They're not installed if I did. I'd not noticed the roundels.. perhaps the glare off the fresh paints was just too much for me
I may try a reinstall of FSX this afternoon.. if I feel brave. Just running a virus scan on the FSX drive in case whatever got C: migrated to E:

I didn't see you coming into Raydon Paul. I take it your landing was a tad rough or do you have a version with actual runways?
Re the Hudson, I quite like it but it does need the helium letting out of tires, then perhaps it would be a little less keen to leave the good earth. A nice docile aircraft (as modelled) to fly but it would be nice to have an internal and external paint scheme to show it had been around the block a bit. What's the Anson like from the same stable - similar or better (or just different)?

Hi Chris,
I have Ian Pearson's RAF Raydon, part of his All-in-One package of historical airfields for FSX ( and so P3D V2 as well ). There's quite a number of long-gone or disused airfields in the collection, some complete as far as the availability of records and photos allows, others still W.I.P. If you fancy it, go here and click on the third link down - the one entitled 'One zip, lots of airfields...'. It contains all the latest versions.

I met up with him at the flight sim show at Cosford in October, and he agreed to do RAF Watton, which is shaping up very nicely.
