Hi Chaps,

Just seen that the Virtavia Avro Lincoln has been released. I've looked through all their vendors and it's only available here at the moment.. http://www.flightsimstore.com/index.php ... f3d6m9cle5

Who's first?

Cheers Dave 8)

Y'know.. I'm not drawn to the Lincoln at all though I like the idea of having one. It sure is an ugly SOB (with the exception of the Lincolnian).. like the Whitley or Hampden. How could something so butch as the Lancaster morph into the Elephant Man :dunno:

I'm sure I'll get one in the end.. be rude not to.. but at the moment, my plastic is feeling no signs of distress ;)

I know what you mean Dave. I'll probably pick it up in a sale at some point.

To be on the safe side Dave, you could always have plastic surgery.

It doesn't hurt at all - just cut your card in two.

I don't think that would be enough Graham. I've not 'physically' used my card for years.. it only gets a pasting online  I could get rid of my PayPal account though :-O NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

My fear with the Lincoln is that sales may be small enough to turn Virtavia off making anymore Brit models, as has happened with them before. Perhaps this 'toe dip' back to Blighty isn't the right choice even though it's the right choice in so many ways.. eg, a decent model hasn't been done in years so why not build one. *-) For this reason alone, I feel urged to buy it in the hope they'll continue to make more though in all honesty.. what use I'd get out of it would be better served waiting for it to appear in a sale.

It's a bit pricey so I too am going to wait for a sale. That said, I love the Lincoln, and it looks like Virtavia's made a fair fist of modeling it. The VC in particular looks excellent and well up to the standard they set with the B-29. BTW, does anybody know who modeled these two VCs ? I get the feeling he's new to the team, based on what's come before.

Not sure about the external textures - they look a bit bland and simple though with a paintkit provided, I'm sure someone will improve upon them ( paging Mr Watkins...paging Mr Watkins... )

In the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing some screenshots. All in all, this looks like a good 'un. :)

Don't know who's responsible for the VC's and to be picky.. I think the bump maps are a tad overdone making the panel lines (on some paints) look like the FCS Sunderland :worried:

I don't think the price is too bad from the link above. $33.50AUD equates to roughly £18.34 (using their currency selector) which is about £6 cheaper than Simmarket (it's now available there too). This said.. there's no indication at flightsimstore that the price is VAT inclusive. £18+ is roughly what is advertised at Simmarket ex-VAT *-)

Gahhhh, wash your mouth out with soap !!!!

Panel lines; yes, I see what you mean. They are a little ..ahem...Corgi-esque aren't they. Something else that disappoints is the navigators position, or lack thereof, and which is curtained off. Have a look here...

Actually, it looks more like someone's hung up two pieces of grey Axminster. It would have been nice to have had the nav and W/op stations modeled, along the lines of the FS Add Ons Hudson and Anson, and indeed the Virtavia B-29. I suppose the lack of a bulkhead anywhere would mean having to model the entire fuselage interior right back to the tail turret. Nevertheless, an opportunity lost, I think.
