Anti Aliasing drags down performance

Hi

Our Air Cadet Sqn was recently gifted a pretty decent Dell PC that runs FSX remarkably well, but I’m wondering if a simple upgrade of the graphics card would improve things; enabling anti-aliasing really hits performance, but with it switched off we of course get the jaggies but perfectly acceptable performance.

Is there a simple/low cost graphics card upgrade? Any recommendations?

The Spec is Dell 530 Inspiron with Intel Core 2 duo E8400 with 4 GB ram. The graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3600srs. We run Win 7 64 bit.

thx

AA can be turned on either in the game or the actual card settings.

Some systems prefer one way and others like it opposite.

Wherever you have it set, try the other, don't of course have both on and see if it's any better.

There was also an addon..name escapes me :help: where you could control more settings and different amounts of AA could be set....Nhancer or something???

Long time since I've had FS so I can't say more.

I seem to recall the early ATI cards being a bit a bit rubbish on AA but better than NVIDIA in other respects. A half decent NVidia card should make a marked improvement. ;)
