Another duet..

I thought it might be nice to poodle around pretending to be the American Heritage flight (F15 Eagle from Lakenheath and P51 Mustang) but the WoP Mustang refused to turn it's landing light off and looked naff
So.. a faster partner was found..
A quick (very quick, despite me getting lost at FL400) hop from Culdrose to Llanbedr via the Loop. Some models (the F3 for example) stay very close in formation and the more accurate your flying, the closer it stays. Others standoff a bit as those swans did on the other thread. This is probably due to the wingspan/model area as aircraft will formate according to that parameter. The F3 is a good partner in the air though it judders like a good'un on the deck for some reason

I take it that's an Italian Tornado?
If so, it's nowhere near dirty enough!
Honest - I have a photo of one somewhere, from the 1996 Waddington airshow, and I was gobsmacked at how filthy it was - considering it was representing its country's air force.
Mind you, it was a GR model, so it does fly closer to the muck, I suppose!

The GR's are much better looking aircraft IMHO

Well.. that one would have looked better had I chosen an RAF paint. I didn't know what version is was from the list so I just picked the first one

I don't have any flyable GR4's on my system but thinking about it, I do have some AI GR4's. Next time maybe
On both occasions the view is from the AI.. they weren't in shot when I panned to that position. It's rather spooky having them slip into view.. especially on models where the pilots are animated. It's a lorra lorra fun
Just been out with 2 of JY's RN Hunters. Two things.. they shake the sh1t out of themselves on the deck and they shake the sh1t out of themselves above around 480kts as I found while bursting up the English Channel at over 600kts

They sit tight in though which is good

Here we are as seen from Exeter's control tower showing off

Frame rates can cause the jitters. If you're running unlimited, try setting it to 30, or if you're already limited, try unlimited.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place here Dave. Having FR's set to unlimited can make the decks of carriers jitter.. pulling it back stops that. The AI flights I've done recently have been done with FSXB which advises FR locked at 30 if using 2048 textures

AAArghh, Dave,!
You're undermining my love of props. For some unknown reason, I'm starting to like the shape of these blinking military jets. Added to that, the Carrier in your other recent posts really held my attention. Might have to get my moral compass repaired.
On the subject of jitters,
I was poodling around the Hebrides in a Gannet recently, surely not too demanding. When I did instant replay, jitters were king.
I have "Live Boost", which can show how the system is being used. Every time I've peeped at it, only 4 of my CPUs are "available", or at other times 4 are "asleep(?)"
Any ideas there please?
I'm just going to do another check while FSX is running and "LB" set to "gaming"
EDIT:
Not "asleep", "parked"
Same again, 4/8 boosted, 4 parked. Not always the same 4 IIRC. Does the computer spread the work to reduce heating?
CPU speed wobbles from 2 to 3.19Ghz.
RAM usage hovers around 30%
More awful jitters when replaying in spot aircraft follow mode.

Hi Mike,
I'm guessing the CPU you are using has hyper threading. If this is the case, then there aren't really 8 cores, there are actually only 4 and if memory serves FS can only use real cores, hence 4 in use and the 4 hyper threads not.
If you do have 8 physical cores, then it may be your using the wrong cpu mask in your cfg file.
Which cpu do you have?

Eeek! This is suddenly getting very technical
I don't usually see the jitters with instant replay Mike. I have the first core setup to handle addons and the remaining 3 to take on FSX. As Dave mentioned.. what FR you have set can cause jitters but there's no hard and fast rule. AI in FSX moved back a step.. 2 steps in fact. Fly up close to AI and they'll sometimes leap about as they used to do in FS8. This pretty much disappeared in FS9 but is back again in X

AirTrafficFX doesn't do a bad job with them and the closer your models are matched, the better they look/behave in the air. Most seem to judder on the deck (the Alpha Tonka was no exception) though in the air it was very good. JY's Hunters weren't quite so smooth in the air but they weren't bad. On the deck.. they're all over the shop. This said.. if you watch then as 'proper' AI (that is, flying an AI plan).. they're good in both instances
The Carriers..
Enterprise on the other thread can also be Ike and there are something like 13 or 14 configs you can choose from. It is IMHO the best carrier available and by some way. The deck crew move to position when you're on the cat ready to go.. there's a little tug which does endless circuits up and down the deck and the detail you see on the upper deck is carried on below deck.. the hangars are fully modelled. Its quite an amazing bit of work

The Flying Stations Victorious is the best Brit carrier by a very long way and I use it a lot. Finally.. Clemenceau and Foch by the RFN. These come in different versions to cover different years and are beautifully modelled.
Most of the things I fly have properellers either pointing fwd or stuck on top of the roof but it's nice to go out in something different every now and again

Just for you Mike.. something with a prop on the front..
Sri the smoke looks a bit naff on the second shot. I was fumbling about trying to get Paint to open and the smoke started dispersing while I was at it
Model is the VS Stearman
