FSX Afresh.... with - Less headaches

It's been more than a year since I've had a PC to run FS on.
after the install I made a complete back up of all files.
First problem I'm having is installing addon scenery.
I unzip the DL then put the parent folder containing the scenery and texture folders in my root FSX addon scenery folder. start the sim, then open scenery library and navigate to the scenery folder and click it, It opens and shows the scenery and texture folder. Then I click on the scenery folder but I can't see the bgl's and get the "No files found" message.
same with texture files.
Some advice would be appreciated, Greatly.
Joseph

Windows 7 ?
If so google the problem as one has to load it differently for some reason. Mind you Degsy & Co's Llanbedr used to work OK in FSX, but I cannot now get the buildings etc to show - runway is OK.

Joe..
Yes.. scenery has to be installed slightly differently in Win7. Navigate to the scenery folder in add/remove scenery.. click on the scenery folder you want to add (not double click) so that the path highlights in the relevant boxes then right click anywhere in the big window to add the scenery. I think that's how you do it. I'll go and check for you. Took me ages to remember how to do it
EDIT: Here ya go Joe

Right click to highlight the area then click ok..

It will open the window like this. Simply right click in the area I've shown and it will add the scenery to your library. Gad knows why it changed in Win7

Hi Keith and Dave .... and anyone else who'd click on a thread with "headache" in the title. .. with the total lack of mandatory required system info provided, to boot!
(( Win 7 64x i3 sec gen , HD3000 graphics, 4 giggy ... )) .. you can stop laughing now.

I was too tired mate, It was nearly three in the dark and after trying several things I know, I said the hell with it , and said to myself I'll ask the question in the best forum (in the world mind you) and for once have someone sort it for me.
David Booker, that was a most excellent screen shot graphic, unfortunately the words "right click in this area" don't show up either. ...

They wouldn't of course
I did try that but the scenery isn't visible. I was skeptical it would show not seeing the updating scenery box pop up as it would when new scenery is detected.
right clicking after highlighting a object only produces the typical right click menu.
twiddle dee twiddle me done!.
I have installed FSX on win seven before, I'm sure I saw the bgls when adding scenery back then... maybe,,, senile has been added to me without my knowing?
I do appreciate the input to help Dave. ..

You don't need to right-click in that area, a left-click will do. (Ensure that the mouse pointer is on white space and not on any text.)

Hiya George
Left clicking de selects the scenery file I want to install.
I'm thinking a bad install perhaps some admin permissions, something coo coo

Only if the pointer is on the directory name. It needs to be where Dave kindly placed the "Click here" text.

Hi George,
Scenery still not being added.
So from the top
I open the scenery library in the FSX settings option.
I see the dialog box with the list of scenery folders.
Click on add area
the select scenery directory window opens up
I navigate to the parent scenery folder where I placed it. (in the addon scenery folder within my FSX root directory)
[KFHR Friday Harbor PR] which has two subfolders containg bgl's and whatnot
I click on the KFHR folder, the text becomes highlighted.
I click open and see the scenery and texture folders
I click on the scenery folder and I see nothing except the text "no items match your search" in the box, no bgls.
If I click on the Parent folder once and left click in the open area The parent folder is de selected ... nothing is going to happen , same as if one opens the box in any explorer window. It's looking for a specific file type ,,, In FSX there is no option to recognize/ open all file types.
If I right click on the open area after selecting the scenery parent folder , The typical right click menu drops down under the pointer and the object I clicked on is de selected
I'm temped to just copy and paste the bgls directly into the addon scenerys' Scenery subfolder, but that can make it hard to uninstall or de active scenery.
Somethings messed up ... could be me... I think it's the sim though

Don't open the scenery folder! you need to be in the [KFHR Friday Harbor PR] folder, with the scenery and texture sub-folders showing, as per Dave's pic above.

Step by step.
Click on "Add Area"
Browse to the main folder and click "OK":
You will see two folders, Scenery amf Texture. Click anywhere in the white space below these folders:
Immediately it will return to the scenery list with your added area at the top:
