seems easy enough , The pitfall of installing an update that could wreck the OS however has me thinking twice about it. :worried:

I've been reading up on running XP in VM on Linux. No updates required , but there are issues ...

I have a couple of machines running XP offline.. using them for utilitarian purposes , Editing video, transferring files across drives and for the "record what you hear" feature, recording music from Beta VHS Vinyl eTc.

Alas, upgrading to Win 7 has it's pitfalls as well... like driver issues and the Fn hotkey software on laptops.
I upgraded a Toshiba Netbook by shrinking the C: drive and creating a Partition for Win 7... Good thing too.
Before I started the win 7 install I'd turn off the WiFi before shutting down XP with the Fn hotkey. .. When I booted into win 7 for the first time I couldn't Turn the Wifi back on because the hotkey software Toshiba said would work ~wouldn't. I think it's called "Extra value package" ... :| .... 8)
.. anyway I booted back into XP - turned on the wifi via hotkeys, then booted back into win 7 and was able to connect to my network. :)

Cheers
