Hi Again!
Well after going though most if not all types of aircraft in the sims i have really got into Helicopters and after asking about the Milviz 206 i have been looking at the Dodo 206, i currently use the Upgraded Owen Hewitt 206 and enjoy it but i like a challenge and perhaps this version will be the one,
The reason i am asking all these questions is in about a month i will be shutting the PC down for a while until i have moved house and got settled again, although my Grandsons have PC's so i will keep an eye on the forum when i get the chance
Cheers,
Roger.

Not had the pleasure of the Dodosim 206 Roger but it's definitely one I keep looking at. There are a few nice UK paints for it too. Can't say I need a challenge though. If you fancy a challenge, try one of the latest Nemeth models. I think unflyable is a good descriptive

I really like it, mainly because it flies how I expect a helicopter to fly. I.e. You can get into vortex ring conditions, do a proper autorotation etc.
The start up is very realistic, I use it to practice for the real thing, but I don't know if you can shortcut that. I'll check the manual when I get home.

Cheers Skip

An 'idle b'stard' mode would be useful for someone like me

The Dodosim visual model is adequate, but the thing that sets it apart from all others is the flight handling, it makes everything else deficient. The good thing is, this does not mean it's harder to fly, really quite the opposite as it flies in line with what you would expect, therefore you can get to grips with it more easily. You will be concentrating hard though

The simulation level is controlled by a rotary switch on the overhead, so you can ease yourself into it if you want, but I recommend going the full hog, the system stuff isn't extensive just like the real machine.

Hi Roger,
Yes it is a fine model. I bought it soon after release.
It does require a softer touch than the default FSX 206... No constant yanking and banking.
The default I can do anything I want .. hammerhead , barrel roll (although kinda sloppy), invert. So I sometimes just pop in it .. that's fun.
The dodo I fly when I want that realism a 206 has. Which is fun too, but.... leaves a rewarding after taste... if you get my meaning.

Roger.
If it's any help I find it harder to land than the real thing! Possibly because the eyepoint is slightly higher than I think it is so it's still a few feet off the ground when I think it should be on it's skids.
