More DCS goodies are a-coming

VEAO Simulations are pleased to announce that we are in contract to develop the “DCS Warbirds Collection” for the DCS World flight simulator.
For the first iteration, the following aircraft modules are being developed:
HA-112 Hispano Buchon
Supermarine Spitfire Mk XIV
F8F-Bearcat
Curtiss P-40F
All aircraft will have the External Flight Model (EFM) and Advanced Systems Modelling (ASM) to DCS fidelity standards. As with all of our modules, we will develop these aircraft to military specifications.
The modules in the collection will be released separately, as they are developed, and will be sold for $39.99 each.
We expect the first module to be ready at the end of this year (Q4 2014) with the remaining modules expected for release up to Q2 2015.
Future aircraft in the collection are being discussed, as well as terrain maps, and further details will be announced at an appropriate time.
Apparently, these aircraft are being produced with a specific conflict or area of ops in mind (one not currently available or planned by other parties) and Chris Ellis (from VEAO) tells us they plan to produce the relevant theatre terrain as well.
Don't care much for the Spanish built Bf-109, but the MkXIV Spit has me especially interested. The Bearcat and P40 would be getting the attention of my bank account, too!
Unfortunately, the BAe Hawk these guys have built is delayed. Seems it's all finished and ready to go, but now BAe is making waves over the legal aspects (having previously agreed to it, so it seems). They are still confident of a release in the near future, but I'm sure we all know how long solicitors like to drag things out
Otherwise, it's
PS - did I mention that they are planning to build a modern tanker (A330 MRTT mooted) and have it operable by pilot/crew
and a boom operator - i.e. in multiplayer online? No?

I discovered DCS yesterday, having done my first flight in the Su-25. I am really, REALLY hooked. The feeling of flight is a world apart from any FSX/P3D or XPlane flying - it feels real. But a complex sim which will take time to master re combat systems. I might be ditching P3D for a while....
Just a pity it's not a global sim

That's great
There are many small bugs, some not really noticable until a certain situation - such as the laser-guided missiles in the Su-25A falling short - but overall it's good fun. You are lucky, really, as those of us who are veterans of the sim have been stuck with the same terrain area (plus/minus small bits) for some 10 years now, whereas new and much improved terrain is due out this year.
I did a load of mission reports on my website for the Su-25A "Revanche" campaign on my website, but it's down for now, until I get FTTC. The YouTube videos are still up, but they are poor quality due to the poor adsl speed I have to suffer.
Oh well. If you ever fancy some co-op flying, give me a shout - the Su-25 is currently my favourite (A or T model) in DCSW, but I have all of the modules and enjoy flying them all - or fighting, in the case of Combined Arms
An A-4C Skyhawk has just been announced in development, and the new news is that an F-86F Sabre is due to be released next month. That's full-realism one, with clickable cockpit etc, not the Flaming Cliffs keyboard control only type. Personally, I'm waiting excitedly for the Hawk T.1A, also due out any time now - and I paid for my MiG-21bis two years ago and am still waiting!
Welcome to the club.

John,
Have you got the Huey?

I started looking at getting my stuff into DCS. I've got the modelling tools, and the actual model shouldn't be too hard to import although it's more complex than modelling for FSX.

Thanks John
Last night I started learning the basics of the weapon systems, switching between weapon modes, attack modes etc. There is alot to learn, and all the key commands drive me insane. But the more you do, the more you learn. It's loads of fun mind. Tonight, I'll try and set up my own mission and track down a few aircraft.
Would love to try a multiplayer session at some point, but I'll let you know when im ready for a live session
I have to say, the environment could fast become stale, but I am glad that new Nevada area and the EDGE technology are on the doorstep. I cannot wait for the Hawk and Sabre myself. . So far I havent spent a penny, so i consider it awesome value!
I need to get the Huey, seems like fun

Firstly, yes I have the Huey (though I prefer to fly both the Ka50 and Hip - they are less nuts to control
Also, there are some freeware models being developed, too - notably a Gazelle, but also a BO-105 and an F-100 Super Sabre. Think an F-104 was also mentioned, but not sure if it was a freeware project or not.
Dave, a Beaufighter to fly in the upcoming DCS WWII scenario would be the Mutt's nuts!

There are so many great British classics that can fill the DCS world.

DCS is hugely impressive. I have the A-10C and Mi8 Hip, both of which are a bit beyond me in terms of systems and controls. I'll be getting the Mig-21, however.
