PAD S330/360 FDE

Hello lads, I've had the PAD 360 and 330 for a while but have only just rediscovered them in my hangar, as happens in our hobby. Not cutting edge by modern standards but a respectable rendition of a unique British Aircraft nonetheless. Just tried to take the Air UK repainted 360 for a quick circuit and realised it flies like a pig...the old nodding dog syndrome. I don't want to disrespect the guys at PAD, I know they don't officially exist any more, but does anyone out there know of a FDE fix I can use to calm this beast down?

If you are referring to the wild elevator trim, I used Tweak Aircraft Tool to adjust it. It's easy to do by hand/notepad in any case.

I found I had to reduce it to a very low setting to get satisfactory results. It seemed low to start with, at 0.200, which I halved:
[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar=1.000
parasite_drag_scalar=1.50
induced_drag_scalar=1.000
elevator_effectiveness=0.8
aileron_effectiveness=1.1
rudder_effectiveness=0.8
pitch_stability=2.0
roll_stability=2.0
yaw_stability=2.0
elevator_trim_effectiveness=0.100
aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.000
Of course, you can play with the other bits, too, if you like - the trim was the only thing that got my goat up. The maximum trim angle is also set high (I think, anyway) at 85° - so with just a small movement of the virtual trim wheel, you get a large variation in trim tab movement. (as a quick ref, the PMDG Beech 1900D has an elevator trim limit of just 15°).

Yep, you were spot on! Much more solid than before. Funny how I like to think of myself as a Flightsim expert, and yet sometimes I need someone to point out the obvious. What a great hobby, thanks again :lol:

It's always the ones that are staring you in the face that you never think of!

Glad you got it sorted.
