Not sure I fully understand the question Roger, but you just attach it to an email the same as you would any other attachment. What size is the rar file you have created?

Hi Ben,

The file is 12.4 mb and yes i thought i could send it the same as the photo's i send my daughter as like i said that is all i have sent, mind you i have had to reduce the photo sizes so perhaps the rar file is to big, i should look on my e-mail and see the maximum size! :wall:

i could try opening the rar and sending smaller folders in rar form if you understand me, this is an area i have never done and of course i have downloaded hundreds of rar files but not uploaded any!

Roger.

I use 7zip if I'm creating rar files, and it gives you the option to split the archive into smaller files. This way you could send 2 or more separate emails each with half of the archive. Then when he receives them at the other end it effectively joins them together when he un-rars them.

.rar works in exactly the same way as .zip...but is a better compression

You need WinRar to handle them.

Hi Garry,

You don't need WinRAR mate, 7zip does it, and does it for free. TBH the compression differences are so small I really don't know why folk don't use zip as its a much more accessible format.

That's odd as on one of my machines I only have winzip and the .rar files appear as blank icons and can't be opened giving the option to search for a programme.???

I always make zips as that's what people have but I do it in Wimrar, if I use .rar then I get replies that they can't open it as I mention here. :dunno:

7zip isn't WinZip mate, its a different program. 7zip is freeware. WinZip is bloatware :)
