New VC10 Panel

Hello Every One, I'm a Newbie here on the forum. I have just installed Nicholas Wevber's New VC10 panel and I have a question. When I fly just beyond
the 10,000 ft mark I get a "Horn" sounding and a Blue Flashing light near a label which says Flt Dir Mode Obs. Can anyone tell me what the warning means
and how I disable the sound. I think it means something to do with Altitude but can find no mention of it in the docs.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Navyman and welcome.
I'm not sure who Nicolas Wevber is, but its David Maltbys VC10 that's supported here. The horn is probably an audio warning for FL100, although I'm not sure there was one for this on the real aircraft.

Hi Navyman
Welcome aboard.
I've not heard of that one either.
Due to special coding DM uses it would be advisable to stick with his panels.

Hi chaps. I'm looking at avsim on the phone and can see the panel update which looks pretty comprehensive, but I can't see any credit or mention of David Maltby who did the original, I'll check later on the pc though

It seems this has been somewhat a labour of love for Mr. Weber. He does indeed credit David in his first update and it seems I was looking at one of the later updates to the update. I'll take a look at this as it looks quite impressive.

Hi Guys, thank you all for your resposnes. I have used DM's VC10 panel but Wevber does give DM credit for the original work. Wevber has made a more
comprehensive panel basically giving a lot more usable gauges. Unfortunately Wevber's email address does not work so I can't ask him about
the problem. Anyone installing the mods (down load from AVSIM) will find them a bit tricky. The panel works fine except for the "Hooter".
I will be interested if anyone else finds the same problem and can find an answer.
Cheers

Hi Navyman,
I tried it last night and it does look great, but unfortunately the engines wont start in FSX (due to the modified air file I think) so I wasn't able to start the engines (or fuel up). He certainly seems to have gone to a lot of trouble and although I'm not a huge fan of fitting TCAS, I'm pretty sure the RAF had such things fitted to their kit.

Yes.. you'll find a facsimile in DM's C1K panel

I seem to remember Tonks saying it became a pre-requisite.. especially when flying over French airspace as French ATC were liable to refuse entry and/or divert them around were TCAS NOT fitted. All this from a country where they constantly hold Europe to ransom.. cheeky swines

Hi Guys, Problem solved. I have just found some responses to the "New VC10 Panel" on the AVSIM forum and Mr Webver replied to my question.
I had tried to short cut the check lists (naughty!!) and missed out the OXY Checks which cures the problem. Again thank you for coming back to me.
The panel is complex and you have to follow alll the included check lists. Hey Ho!
Best Regards

10000 ft sounds like pressurisation to me...
The VC10 does indeed have TCAS and has had it for a while now; it is integrated into the VSI and is a useful tool! The problem with the French in particular Dave was 8.33 radios, which the 10 eventually got. Bless them... LOL
