Anyone recommend a good win7 64bit printer?

Hi,
can anyone recommend a good WIN7pro 64bit compatible printer.
Preferably one has used or seen working on a new rig.
I have a new PC win7, 64 and my fairly new HP All IN ONE is now ALL BROKE IN ONE!
Some sort of driver issue and HP not very interested in fixing.
Time for a change me thinks.
Thanks,
Ted.

Hi Ted
I have a very cheap HP Deskjet 1050A Printer/Scanner (it was cheaper than a cartridge for my previous printer!!) and this is supposed to work with Win7 32/64bit. I've never printed from my Win7 pc mind you because I have a rather odd setup here. The printer is connected to my WinXP pc (the one I'm on now) and I tried to set it up for the Win7 pc over my network. However, my Win7 pc isn't that keen on talking to the WinXP pc and thereby lies the problem. I did buy a TP-Link print server last year but never got around to installing it

Before I bought it, I looked at the online reviews and one chap had got it to work straight out of the box on a mixed XP/Win7 system which is one reason why I bought it but that's by the by.
I'm sure (he says) that if I connected the printer directly to the Win7 pc (64bit Ultimate flavour) it would work and/or if I installed the print server.. it would also work. It may also work on the Win7 pc if I took the time to get to the bottom of the network problem but Win7 is sufficiently different from WinXP for me to not have a clue what I'm doing on it

My Vista laptop see's the printer ok and works fine. It also see's the Win7 and WinXP pc's. The Win7 pc see's the Vista laptop but not the XP pc.. the XP pc see's the other 2. It's one of those situations
Surprised there's no proper Win7 64bit driver for yours

Hi Ted,
Surprised about your driver problem. I'm using an old HP Photosmart Express for scanning. Prefer the laser for printing.
I have W7, and am happily using a Samsung CLP310 series laser printer with it, networked between Mrs Airspeed's unit & mine. There's probably a newer model out by now, I bought it 3 years back
It handles a good range of media including gloss, matt, transparencies. I understand that it will also handle foil, but haven't got my hands on any of that yet.

I've just checked on the Which? website and they have comparison tests of 139 printers. If you're not a member, if you give me a max price I'll see if I can find a couple that they recommend. Apart from Win7 drivers, I assume you're looking for an all-in-one with scanner?

I've had two HP all in ones since Win 7 x64 (and now Windows

and both worked out of the box. What model is it that you're having a problem with?

Wouldn't one have been enough
I have two Brother laser printers, one B&W and one colour.

I wasn't being greedy, honest gov.
The first one id had for years. It was a HP photosmart something or other. I think it was 2005 or something when I bought that one, and it worked fine with Win7 x64. After a few house moves and a few knocks it stopped working, so I replaced it with another HP Photosmart with scanner. Its a wireless one and only cost £49. Again, straight out of the box no problem with Win 7 x64, and again no problem with Win 8.

We have a Brother all-in-one inkjet printer/scanner/copier/fax that we bought a couple of years ago as a 'refurbished' product and it was like new when it arrived.
It's network capable and we hooked it into the router, installed the software on all connected machines (two Win 7 (one 64 bit, one 32 bit), one XP, one Vista) and it was immediately seen by all and accessible by all even via wireless from the XP and Vista computers. It's worked flawlessly ever since and has had multiple ink cartridges run through it during that time. The only issue we had was when my wife decided to be a tight wad once and bought some cheap brand cartridges from a local outlet. The printer choked on them and refused to print. I replaced them with proper Brother cartridges and it started printing happily again.
This is the second Brother machine we have owned, the previous was a Brother laser all-in-one when I was self-employed, and I can highly recommend them. I used to be a Canon fan until their carts got to ridiculous prices. I've never like HP printers and Lexmark while giving good prints are also very expensive to keep in ink.

Sorry to jump in here, Dave this should work fine as Win7 will find the printer and download the drivers accordingly, did you have any errors when you added the printer?
I used to have a All in one connected to my Homeserver (USB) which was shared to my Win7 machines, i even got internet printing set up, so i could print to home when i was out!
