Does look very good indeed Dave - now if Gary and Orbx can resolve the exclusions issue between them it would be worth getting to go with EU England.
Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris
I don't think it's a case of resolving the exclude issue between them. Leeds is where Leeds is and the ORBX 'blanket' exclude precludes the use of animated jetways in FSX where this exclude exists

ORBX need to bodge holes in it

This issue was raised on the ORBX support forum for the first time on Friday by a UK2000 beta tester and was the first the ORBX team knew about it. None of their customers had complained so either nobody used Leeds Bradford, didn't use the jetway at stand 8 or didn't care enough to mention it in the obvious place.
John Venema wrote:Gary has not emailed Orbx once about cooperative patches or mods to accommodate his airports. Our email address is on our website and we are more than willing to have a dialog for the benefit of our mutual customers, not a problem at all.
The issue was posted at 0735 and a patch was posted at 1029 which has been confirmed to solve the problem. You can get it from the post in the support forum but to reach it you have to be registered and log in.

Hi Ian..
Thanks for that.

Leeds Bradford was still in beta on Friday and wasn't released until Saturday morning. It's fortunate that one of the beta team has FTX England installed otherwise the problem may have gone un-noticed
Nice of ORBX to issue a patch resolving the issue so Chris.. no excuses now

It shouldn't have been necessary if they hadn't been so lazy / stupid.
Those guys are so arrogant.

Calm down, dear. It's only a game. Play with something else if you don't like it.
This is probably a good time to say that I'm taking a sabbatical from the forum due to posts like this. There is so much negative sentiment lately that it's no longer the fun place it used to be. As you know I've been a keen simmer since the early days but recently the advent of FTX scenery, LM's Prepar3d, REX, Windows 7, the iPad apps and the hardware to run them have transformed my hobby. I've never had so much wonderful fun but I've learnt to curb my enthusiasm around here for fear of sparking responses like George's. I just keep it to myself or by PM with the others here who feel the same.
I've just bought FTX Southern Alaska. 200,000 square miles with all major VFR features accurately modelled - power lines, lakes, roads, vertical obstructions and railways. All 270 airports upgraded from default and with moving objects and AI. £23 with my OAP discount for some of the most stunning scenery you've ever seen in FS. If you think that's lazy, stupid and arrogant then you really need to get out more.
I'm off for a summer's happy simming and cycling. I'll pop back in the autumn when I've calmed down myself. I don't suppose I'll be welcome but hey ho, I've still got some great flying to keep me happy.

I wondered how long it would take you to get SAK Ian - I assumed not long, and so it proved.
George, it's pretty obvious you don't like the FTX scenery (or Orbx for that matter) and that's absolutely fair enough. Your post on the subject of Leeds Bradford isn't accurate but does reflect your extreme negativity to all things Orbx. Personnally I find it a considerable shame that the posts of some people put others off so much that they feel they have to leave the forum (however temporarily). There has been a fair bit of banter around the issue of too many white houses in EU England, much of it good natured, and let's face it pretty well earned, but some posts have crossed the line from banter to something close to hatred.
FTX scenery for England does have some flaws but none that are significant and any problems that do arise are generally fixed pretty quickly. As Ian said the problem with Leeds & Bradford was fixed very quickly when brought to the attention of the team. FTX has transformed the scenery of some fairly big chunks of the USA and now the UK and there is a well established and growing fan base. FTX Global looks extremely promising. Wales is excellent BTW.
I know many people absolutely stand by the photoscenery for the UK and with the growing availability of 3D objects it is certainly an attractive proposition. Is it better than FTX? In some ways undoubtedly but in others (living world for example) absolutely not. It is very much down to what floats your boat. At the end of the day (don't you just hate that phrase

) this is supposed to be a hobby, so how about a bit of peacefull co-existance?
Regards,
Chris
