ORBX England

Today after a longer wait than expected I received ORBX England after ordering it yesterday and after a long install (thought the computer had frozen at one point) took a couple of test flights the result? Somewhat disappointed in that I never realised how bl**dy flat and featureless England could be in certain areas!!
Never took much notice of the scenery when flying FSX Default Scenery!!!! (Now I know why Ian is staying across the other side of the Atlantic).
Of course I may be judging this on the Pacific North West which I had as a demo (by kind help of Ian) over there it is an ever changing scenery whereas England is nearly all fields towns villages until you fly over the hilly areas of Derbyshire – Pennines and Lake District.
I have to say though that I do like it, flew from Waddington and easily followed the A15 up towards Scampton and beyond, though Lincoln did not look anything like Lincoln as I flew over but just before reaching Scampton there was a roundabout just as you would find if you drove along that road but it does not show everything that you would expect to see in VFR Scenery such as landmarks like Lincoln Cathedral and other roads / bridges / villages that you would recognise. I had expected this even before purchase and it does not concern me for one minute as since I first flew flight simulator back in the 1990s to the present day I have never had VFR Scenery so........ ‘What you don’t see you don’t miss’ ....so to speak.
Overall, ORBX have done an extremely good job especially with the way default airports look, not so much the large commercial ones but such places as flying clubs for example Wickenby, I used to fly from there on occasions and it is extremely good considering it is only an ORBX default one and so much better than the FSX version. One comment I do have is in relation to Duxford, they could have put in the static aircraft at least!! Still getting to grips with the settings as when flying the Capt Sim737 it does take up quite a few fps but with say the Dragon Rapid the fps are around 50 – 70 mark - all set at unlimited I may add.
Only problem that I have found is that I downloaded the patch (update) from another computer and found I could not open it to install so will have another go tomorrow, has any-one else here had this problem?
Regards
Nigel
