Senior Discount for ORBX products

ORBX have announced a permanent 20% discount on all download and boxed products at The FlightSim Store. To qualify you have to be over 65 and email FSS a copy of ID showing DoB and that will be registered on your account.
It's a nice gesture but a few years out of date. The latest generation of pensioners is no more likely to be living in poverty than any other section of society - probably even less so when considering flight simmers.

Still, you know the advice about gift horses ...

Every time I look, the govmnt seem to move the goalposts as to what retirement age is. I'm totally confused and living o/s the UK where they are tinkering with the age thing also but with differing protocols (good word) I am totally lost in my dementia.
But on the whole I think this is a very +ve action by FTX/ORBX people and should be applauded.

I just hope they are still around when I get there at 65 or 67 or 72 or 77 or whatever it is at the time.
I'm sure they would rather we all just die at our desks and save all that tiresome bother of paying pensions at all. Is that too cynical?

Actually, it's quite simple. All that's happened is that ageism is quite rightly as illegal as racism. The arbitrary default retirement age has been removed and the age at which you stop working is entirely up to you. You are getting confused with the state pension age at which you can ask the state to pay you benefits. This is what is moving from 65 to 68 over a period of years to reflect the fact that on average we are living longer and asking the taxpayer to pay us a pension for longer.
I passed the state pension age 18 months ago but as I can't be forced to leave because of my age, I have continued working full time and have deferred my state pension as I don't need it yet. Giving up a good income in order to potter about the garden or play golf doesn't make much sense to me. I'd rather have too much money than not enough
I'll take the discount, though
Nigel - well done for getting Mrs H-J into flight simming (albeit unknowingly

). Let's just hope she doesn't make a grab for your joystick when you're not expecting it

Well, I've been working full time for 50 years and still am. I'm also a pensioner and old. So I get everything plus discounts - but if I had any spare time I'd be too knackered to do anything with it
