32 bit or 64 bit?

Thinking of upgrading my OS.

I've been looking at my hardware. Got the following results.

CPUZ says: MMX+ 3DNow! SSE( 1, 2, 3, 4A) x86-64, AMD-V

Regedit: x86 Family 16 Model 5 Stepping 3 and system Information gives pretty much the same thing.

I'm pretty sure that x86-64 means I can go 64 bit but I don't wanna splash out and get it wrong.

I'm XP Pro SP3 (32 bit) at the mo and looking at Windows 8 Pro 64 bit for under £50.

Your thought would be much appreciated gents.

Nigel, not sure about the hardware bits but as for software - avoid Windows 8 if at all possible. It has some improvements over 7 but the work arounds to get it to work effectively with a desktop (or laptop) aren't worth it. Better by far to go with 7.
