ORBX plans for WWII airfields revealed

First off, news about the first add-on airfield for FTX England. You'll remember that EGHR Goodwood was to have been released at the same time as the England scenery but ran into logo and branding problems. This has now been sorted out by removing some of the branding on hangars and buildings and no longer referring to Goodwood  they now have to call it Chichester! So Chichester Airport EGHR is finally under testing and should be available by Christmas.

John Venema, CEO, has been more specific following a hint about WWII airfields a while back. He says that ORBX is definitely working on a series of WWII airfields and the first is already under development, set in 1942. The intention is to recreate the atmosphere of the era with suitable buildings, trucks and uniformed people. He specifically mentions pilots standing around smoking outside the mess. They've been using historical aerial photos for accuracy.

Naturally ORBX's first add-on airfield is going to be well out of range of the guns of Dave's KGV. :wall: That was a clever way to get around the Goodwood issue. Maybe now they can build a proper HMS Belfast and rename her 'Vital Spark'. :hide: ;)

Out of range of KGV she may be, but I've a sneaking suspicion he has something much more suitable on the verge of being rolled out ;)

I think the Airfield Construction Group make very good WWII airfields.

But you may have noted that some ORBX users have been re-equipping with B-52s. On standby, stuffed with napalm, we'll see who blinks first

Ah.. a challenge  I reckon there are more GenX users with the Vulcan than ORBX users with the B52. Now then.. I must quickly reinstall the Iris Vulcan into my pristine GenXv3 then learn how to bomb with it

Not bad! Although bombing your own turnip field might not, in itself, change the course of the war

I'm tempted to turn to UAVs for clinical strikes, taking out the ringleaders, but as the only one available is made by Abacus I might have to resort to sanctions instead. Hopefully my military strategist, PaulK, will be along soon and advise on our next move. Hopefully it won't involve precision, formation B52 flying at night.

Meanwhile, if anybody needs me I'll be in the bunker with my Vera Lynn records :worried:
