Gradually moving over to FSX and found latest version of Rick Piper's HS748.. Everything working well, except for a section of the panel in VC.. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi Glen. Yes, I have the same missing panel but I'm using Prepar3d which has other issues with the VCs of FS9 aircraft (the 748 was originally built for FS9) so it's something I accept. 2D panels still seem to be fully functional in later sims but VCs seem to lose a bit of functionality the further we drag them from their natural home. But I've got a vague memory that the missing panel section was discussed some time ago for FSX but I can't remember if there was a solution. If there is one, somebody here will know.

Ian :)

I don't recall having that issue - not that I noticed it in any case - but what put me off using the 748 and 780 in FSX was the inability to restart a warm engine.

It's a real shame, as I really enjoy flying them - especially as an intermediate medium-range transport in Air Hauler - but the inability to restart the engines after unloading the cargo makes it a real pain to use as I then have to exit FSX and re-plan and reload the flight in Air Hauler, before I can continue each leg of any journey, as cold starting is not an issue.

I am having the same issue. The hole in the panel reflects the clouds. The odd part is if I turn all of the lights out on the plane the problem goes away.

Hi Dean and welcome :hello:

This is a common problem with some older models.. even newer older models. The Sigma Harrier is exactly the same though with two influences.. lights and smoke. When smoke is produced, you get holes in the panel and the HUD becomes reflective so you have to disable the smoke gauge. Unfortunately, if you have lights on.. the same happens. There are no known workarounds as far as I can see. Disable the smoke gauge and turn the lights off for the Harrier.. keep the lights off on the 748.

Hi Dean :)

Sorry it couldn't have a better conclusion mate. Why some models do this and others don't, I'm really not sure. Maybe one day, Rick will get back into FS and give the old girl a going over to make it fully FSX/Prepar3D native ;)
