Can anybody tell me where I can find a decent freeware Boeing 727 for FS9. I have HJG version but for some reason it never wants to install.

Thomas, what problem are you having with the HJG 727? I've not seen any posts from you in their forum asking for help.
If you're not seeing the plane in FS9, then usual culprits are -
1) Not installing all parts of the base package.
2) Not installing a repaint and making the required aircraft.CFG edit (the base model does not come with textures. You must download a repaint and then install it per the instructions included).
3) Making a mistake in the aircraft.CFG edit when matching up the sounds and panel.

The 727 hosted by HJG is Erick Cantu's Vistaliners 727, one of the best freeware aircraft ever created for FS9. I spent many hours "flying" them for Virtual Eastern Airlines back when they were still going strong. Great model made only better by the contributions of HJG's experienced crew!

I've just been on the Captain Sim site and noticed that the 'Legendary 727' for FS9 is on offer for €9.99.
I know you asked for a freeware model but that's very close! You get the -100 and -200 plus cargo versions of each and 20 liveries plus another 348 free liveries available. It has a 2D and a 3D cockpit.

IMHO Erick's creation is every bit the equal or even better than the Captain Sim offering. Might be a bit biased but there ya go!

The external model is wonderful and I had it in FS9 too. But in them olden days, I seem to remember having trouble finding a decent panel. I think the best one I found was an unfinished one by Richard Probst. I don't use FS9 any more so I don't know what panel HJG are using now. But Erick's FS9 737-200 using the Tinmouse panel probably gave me more simming pleasure than anything before or since. Hard work keeping it all updated, though. Anyway, I just thought I'd highlight the CS one as it gives more options, like a VC. At that price, he could have both.
