The sim is P3D with REX Essential, scenery is default but the airport is UK2000 LHR.
And the flight is soooo smooth

A very clean looking shot Ian. Get that old girl in the paintshop asap to have her new rudder painted too
Does the autogen (trees and the like) seem any better than FSX? I'm not sure exactly what REX does.. perhaps that's what's 'doing the biz'. Doesn't look bad whatever

Lovely shot Ian, but do you not find the shading of FS9 models in P3D 1.4 is wrong? All of my FS9 models seem to have the side facing the light source as light as normal, but the other side of the a/c looks like its under a cloud

Dunno really, Ben. This is the first FS9 model I've loaded and I was more occupied in remembering which buttons to press than looking at the outside
Those two snaps were both taken from the shadow side anyway but the sunny side looked nice and bright. TBH, considering the overcast weather that REX gave me, I don't think it looks unusual. To complicate matters further, I've got aircraft self shadowing turned on. Maybe I'll do another flight later and have another look.
Dave - Ben knows more about REX than I do but as I understand it it's an environment creation program that gives you realistic clouds, water and weather events including winds, turbulence and icing. The user can select hundreds of different settings but I haven't the foggiest how to use it

I click fly now and accept what it gives me
The default P3D scenery is a bit better than FSX but still best viewed from a great height!
I'm not the best person to ask about technical stuff as I just fly what I'm given and don't ask questions. The perfect consumer

Ah! You might be on to something with the self shadowing Ian, This is what I mean, lined up at Newcastle (no REX and clear skies)
Dave, I'm no expert in REX either. You can choose from different styles of cloud / water etc and then the real world weather get pulled from t'internet and loaded into the sim. There is a bug in the weather at the minute and it seems that sometimes (for whatever reason) it doesn't inject the pressure in so your always sitting at 1013.

Oh yeah - I see what you mean. It looks odd. Also it's got funny things on the front of the engines.
Forget the self-shadowing thing, I was lying. It's not an option in P3D - it was in FSX that I had it turned on
I'm just going to have another look at the 1-11 before lunch.

Thks Ian/Ben.. so it has nothing to do with autogen which is what I was wondering
Those shots look ok Ian except the lack of ground shadow. Is that a turny on/off thing? Definitely something odd going on with that Viscount Ben. Do you know if it behaves the same way in FSX?

Hi Dave. Yes it's turny off and on but mine is turned on in the sim but not showing with this aircraft at this airport so it could be any number of things. I think Ben's concern is that the code in P3D has already evolved beyond FS9 add-ons and that strange illogical things are happening with them.
I get ground shadows with the P3D aircraft that I have installed but I haven't checked with the 1-11 anywhere else - yet!
Meanwhile I've been busy as you will see in my next Gallery post. The VC10, by the way, DOES show a shadow at Kai Tak so it's an aircraft/scenery issue.
