...a redundant Laptop. Any ideas what I could use it for FSX wise?
Can it be slaved to FSX for a GPS display for example?
Just wondering. It will be mostly scrap rearly as it's performance is very low end. Could ebay it for a few quid I guess.

You could always use it to try out new add ons that you're not sure if they are what they claim to be before committing it to the main system

I have a laptop which I have networked to FS9, FSX & P3D. It runs FSCommander, a weather prog, AI Smooth, Plan-G. Freeing up resources on the main PC.
Plus during long flights I can surf the Interweb on it and or listen to MP3's etc...

When I ran FS9, I used Wideserver/Wideclient to run a GPS display on a networked PC to save resources on the FS9 PC.

Not used FSX enough to know what is available, but the concept remains.

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of slaving the gps to the laptop.
BTW how do you open up a laptop? I think I may have a memory issue as it's started to run at 0% available memory (which doesn't make sense, it should not run at all with 0%) and with the occasional blue screen (issue at mem location XXXXX) which leads me to think a hardware issue somehwhere.

My son recently had an issue with his laptop memory and access to it. He resorted to using a chisel and lump hammer. He did manage to access the RAM but now the computer seems to have objected to his interference and refuses to boot.
My advice is not to follow his method.
