Classic British Flight Sim

Hi Chaps,

I'm looking at a house at the moment, but having some confusion with how the broadband might (or might not) work. There is no virgin media in the area, so I'd have to go to BT or similar and I'm interested in the BT Infinity stuff. The exchange is enabled for BT infinity and the cabinet that serves the street next to where the house is has already go it, but our (would be) cabinet hasn't. Does anyone know how you find out if a cabinet (not an exchange) is going to be upgraded, or how you lobby to get one upgraded? So far I've just tried the default BT order line who use the same availabilty checker as is on the website and dont have any other info

If, on the order/offer page, BT Infinity is shown as 'available' for the telephone number or address you're going to, then it should be available. I don't think you can order the service if it's not available to you. Info on the BT pages isn't as 'full' as it could be. Often, the only way to find something out is to lose a day on the phone
When I moved to Pelsall, I tried BT first and selected BT Infinity. When I'd added the number and address, it came back and said it wasn't available. I then clicked on the link to see when/if it was going to be upgraded and the site (I guess the one you've looked at) stated no plans.
As far as lobbying goes, experience with this at Streatley showed that you simply have to enquire. BT got back and said that if sufficient interest was shown, the exchange would be upgraded to Broadband. Infinity is different being fibre-optic but if the cabinet in your street (though not the one outside your house) is already Infinity, it's likely your cabinet will be enabled should there be sufficient interest

Why not call in at the new (monstrosity) call centre in South Shields

BT Have a very good broadband forum with lots of experts and BT people on it. There are plenty of Infinity FAQs on it as well. You should get an answer from here, Ben.
