Hi Chris,
Why think that we'd be bored? Nice countryside!
The last pic worries me though. Not a registration plate in sight?

What a wonderful weekend. You're very lucky, Chris, I'm very jealous of you!
There don't seem to be many others around, is it a quiet area?

At the time that photo was taken, the car was sporting a temporary tag - it's the white paper hanging in the hatch glass. Just picked up the real tags today, so all is legal and above board again.

It was fairly quiet that morning, although the many times I rode them 15 years ago when I lived in that part of the state there weren't ever too many out riding. Not as many people there as in Des Moines, and they tend toward the road bikes in that part of the state. Hopefully, my photos here will help to dispell the myth that all the middle bits of America are flat.

Well, the water's flat!
Thanks for explaining about the registration.
As I said before, it's not boring seeing where folks live.

Dave,
It is indeed the Mini's successor. On a lark I stopped by the VW dealer and drove a couple of Golfs as I wasn't convinced I wanted another Mini. Walked away with a 2.0 TDI, and so far haven't regretted it. It still shocks me how quick it can move when given a bit of wellie, considering it's much heavier and only 25hp up on the Mini. Something to be said for having a lot of torques.
Much earlier than I had planned to spring for a new car, but the planned 10 year cycle now falls on birthdays with a zero at the end so that makes it easy.
Chris
