Now that is very exciting. If it comes with a DH Beaver floatplane (I'll bet it does) then I'll be joining you in the icy wastes, Peter. Do you think they'll give us a classic jet to fly to Hawaii?
Keep us posted!

Re: Alaska must be getting close...
Ian,
I'm not sure that they will link the two scenarios at first...I think they will provide a new Map in addition to the Hawaiian Islands map and your location will be determined by clicking on the appropriate point in either map. I also imagine that Alaska will indeed come with the Beaver (full version with panel), but you will also be able to select any other aircraft that you have in the HANGAR...At the moment there is no aircraft in the HANGAR that is capable of taking you from the Hawaiian Islands to Alaska, so I think you just choose where you want to fly by selecting one of the two MAPS...All this is pure conjecture of course but it seems very probable to me. I am getting very excited by the prospect of exploring a much more highly detailed Alaska than my FS9 version, and it is so huge and with so many airports, airfields and seaplane bases

Re: Alaska must be getting close...
The update is full of good stuff, with changes to the weather options...I've just been flying in a new "Mixed Weather" option and the clouds, gusts, precipitation etc have all been improved. Just flew into some strong 68knots of beam wind and the turbulence has made me feel quite queasy
Maybe it is just the curry I just had for dinner!!

Crikey Peter!
When I read the topic, I thought there must have been a land slip in North America!

Looks good.
You have me intrigued, your helicopter seems to be flying somewhere. How do you do it?
I cannot control any helicopter that I've tried so far.
Cheers, Mike.

Flying them's easy enough, Mike, but landing them right way up is near impossibleAirspeed wrote:GHD wrote:I cannot control any helicopter that I've tried so far.
That's a lovely Anchorage and Lake Hood, George. I was a frequent visitor in the 70s and 80s and It looks so good I can feel the summer mossies biting. I think I'd have to have it permanently under snow, but then you couldn't use Lake Hood

Re: Alaska must be getting close...
Is there anywhere you've not been to Ian?
No, on second thoughts, don't tell me
As Ian said, helicopters can be delightfully easy to fly.. especially in FSX where the helicopter 'engine' is much better. Landing is also easy but walking away takes practise
The secret is.. do not have your sim settings to 'realistic'.

Two things Dave:
Ian has to get around to find all those lovely ladies.
Sounds like helicopter flying has to be as unreal as it gets. Thanks for the tip
