I watched this a few days ago after reading about it in a weekend paper but something about it makes me feel uncomfortable. I wasn't convinced by Philip Gould - partly because he seemed egocentric and partly because he was a Labour Peer. I've never understood how a man, supposedly of the people, could accept a peerage without being hypocritical. Any lingering doubts I had about him disappeared when they showed his stonking great memorial in Highgate Cemetery. It tells me that his acceptance of death wasn't total, in my opinion.

Johnny Cash's 'Hurt' is the most moving statement on approaching death that I've seen but obviously we all see things differently.

An interesting view point Ian. In my ignorance, I didn't know who he was so the film left me feeling neither one thing or another. I got the impression he knew he was 'famous' and of some public standing.. not everyone can afford to have a beautifully filmed and edited documentary made in order to convey their thoughts over the last weeks of their life, neither does the man in the street have the wherewithal to be buried/intered in Highgate cemetary under such a grand monument but without knowing who he was, it ended up being no more than a nicely made short film.

I've seen the Johnny Cash film before and found that moving. Perhaps it's because I knew who he was so the film matched the character

I had that cancer and after many complications and life support etc I survived...just.

It has left me alone, in constant pain and fatigued beyond belief. All I can do most days is try and do things I can't easily manage and watch the world go by and seemingly miss everything Those in authority who are supposed to help don't give a toss.

It has left me wishing I had not made it far more times than being glad I did. Life is a gift, but it is a gift I don't particularly want atm

He is obviously privileged and had live in support. The film was very biased and gave the impression that that's how it is for people in that situation

I have known a few others that have had this and died. It is not like that at all for people who live in the real world

I did not like the film at all. TBH I've never seen such a film that has annoyed me so much. Apart from those I've known, I met others in the same spot in hospital...this film could not be further away from reality if it tried.

I don't want any discussion on my situation, all I want to do is make it clear that this film does more harm than good to some who have tolive with this sort of thing.
