Very nice! :thumbsup: I liked one of the comments left by a viewer of the video. The viewer, who claims to have been an Air Cadet at Brize in 1985, wrote..."On my way back from the cockpit we hit an air pocket and I got flung up to the ceiling and bounced back to the floor. Happy memories." :lol:

One thing I remember about the VC10 is how well it handled turbulence. It's difficult to describe but it sort of 'shrugged it off'. In the 70s I was dual-licensed with the 707 and the difference was very noticeable. The Boeing wallowed around, creaked and groaned and got thrown all over the sky. The VC10 had much less give and seemed to slice through the air.

I remember our jaunt with Tonks as if it were yesterday (well.. my version of yesterday anyway!) and we had a similar experience but for different reasons. After the last Tonka's had been fuelled, the Capt thought it would be a good idea to go and see what the other '10 was doing. I guess our approach speed was a little high so a handful of airbrake was required to scrub off the excess in short order. The airframe juddered as they were deployed and the nose pitched up like a good'un.. just like going over a wave :lol: Of course.. civvie VC10's would never find themselves in the same situation so no spilt G&T's ;)

Well, I remember in the late 60s / early 70s there was a Captain called John Smurthwaite who was fond of demonstrating the airbrakes to the passengers so that they would know what the high frequency judder was . He did it every time!

Hardcore indeed ;) Not sure if you have such things as 'rumble strips' on that side of the pond.. perhaps a 'cow catcher' at the entrance to a ranch?? Well.. it's like driving over one of those :) Certainly not something you expect at FL200! :lol: I think DM and I would have been happy for the pilot to have done it a few times! It was one of those moments when you forget you're 'supposed' to be an adult.. do it again, do it again :lol:

:lol: oh sure we have those, "traffic calmers" they call them. I call em a right royal pain in the .. :) tyres and suspension!

a few years ago they came out with "tables". a very large and long speed bump. I doubt any proper low slung sports car would get over them without scrubbing the undercarrage.

And yes, :S I do do, "do it again" :lol: ... septit's just "do again do again do again :excited:

like when my friend took me for a flight in his Goose and we just cleared this guys sport fisherman after a water takeoff.
