At the time I thought it odd that this aircraft was suddenly scrapped one evening and the excuse that there was nowhere else it could go on Hurn Airport a bit strange.
As usual there is more to it than meets the eye
An article about the sad event

That had me confused for a while mate.. I know, it doesn't take a lot

Bournemouth went through a very disorganised period which coincides exactly with BEYF's fate

Lots things going on but no real organise plans and perhaps too many knee jerk reactions to solutions.
Let's hope lessons can be learned,.

I think things have turned around since then. MikeFoxtrot was an issue as well as the Vanguard trainer. We know the fate of MikeFox but they still have the trainer

Well last time I departed LGW in January, there was still a Herald on the 'dump there. Perhaps when Trident Man hsa finished G-ARPO, we could persuade him to try restore a basket case with props?

There is one at Duxford and one at Elvington as well as G-APWA at Reading and of course G-ASKK is still in the Norwich museum.
I'm not sure what happened G-ATIG at Norwich as it was stored complete for many years.
G-BAZJ on the Guernsey Fire dump is falling apart slowly.
The preserved ex FEAT example in Taiwan was badly damaged in a Typhoon and the last I heard it was to be scrapped. That was the last Herald in existence without nose radar.
So at least five complete examples remain...which is exactly ten per cent of the production, so perhaps not too bad.
Some noses are in existence...G-BEYF, G-ASVO and the noses of G-APWF and G-APWG were saved and sold to private individuals in Jersey where they were scrapped in the early 1980's.
It would be nice to see G-APWJ painted back in her original dark blue and yellow British United livery...G-APWI and J were a part of the Jersey Airlines fleet...already British United CI Airways but remain as Jersey Airlines for the first year of Herald ops, but those two were never Jersey airlines and delivered in BU (CI) A livery.
So that would be a memory of a defunct carrier too as that operated separately from British United until 1968 when it was merged with BUA Manx and Morton Air Services to become British United Island Airways, still separate from BUA until BUA was sold to Caledonian Airways and BUIA became BIA ....

Hi Garry, why cannot I not find any information on G-CEXP/G-BFRJ before 1978? I presumed Herald production must have ended in the late 1960s before the collapse of H-P. Was it converted from a series 100 or something like that?

That was one of the last built in 1968 for Arkia
The four Arxia Heralds went to Express Air Freight/Express Air Services the previous name for Channel Express
G-ATDS, G-BEZB, G-BFRJ, G-BFRK...G-BFRK was the last Herald built.
Several Srs.700 were largely manufactured for VASP out of an order for ten but they were never assembled.
