I was born 1 mile from St Athan in 1942 so a big disappointment for me part of all my yesterdays destroyed, my old playground until caught by the Air Ministry wardens and chased out.

Oddly enough here in the Philippines I met up with 2 ex RAF lads (lads close to 70) who trained there as Boy entrants in the 50's, we now have a natter and drinky poos on a sunday afternoon at the Union Jack restaurant after a British sunday lunch, also met one a couple of years ago who was involved in installing radar in RAF Llandow which was more or less tacked on to St Athan, he said while they were installing the radar the place was being dismantled around them this too was in the 50's, nothing changes !!!
