The only thing really "new" about the concept is the plane, although in all honesty, it's just a scaled up White Knight 2. The Falcon rocket is proving itself quickly to be reliable as is the Dragon pod, so all they're doing is transitioning from a vertical launch to a air launch, something both SpaceX and Scaled have experience with and something to compete with Orbital on being able to launch a full-sized vehicle versus Orbital only being able to launch micro-Sats with it's Pegasus.

To me...it looks like something the Germans might have come up with during WWII *-)

But yes...knocking up something out of existing parts is nothing new in concept

My main surprise is just how old fashioned it looks :lol:
