Penalty

Damn it!!!!

I'm training on the Trident at the mo and was descending into Heathrow. I had autothrottle in, set at 245kts, and was using descent mode at 1700 fpm. I was then penalised for exceeding 250 kts under 10000' as my airspeed had crept up to 260.

Admittedly I should have seen this but was a little too focussed on changing a frequency (my wife say's I can only do one thing at once...).

Is this something to be aware of with the Trident or have I just dropped unlucky?

I scored 95% (not good enough). As it's a training flight though it doesn't spoil the Airlines reputation does it? If so I'm awfully sorry.

Paul

Hi Paul :)

Don't worry mate, the airlines reputation isn't damaged by this sort of penalty ;) Of all the aircraft we operate, I find the 1-11 the speed demon of the pack, not particularly the Tridents. This penalty may well live with you even though it was a training flight. I'll take a look at your stats and see ;)

245 is probably to high a setting to use with autothrottle on approach. If you're aiming for a decent at 1700 I'd set that auto throttle to about 210, but remember auto throttle won't slow you down if your airspeed creeps up, you'll need to use the speed brake occasionally. Only IAS hold will keep you there or there about by adjusting attitude, but not much use on finals ;)

Hello Paul, this is FSA client with crappy nosense penalty points!!! :help:
S**t happens everytime...I descend at 240kias, wind or wake turbulence appears from nowhere, and KIAS hits to 255, still I get penalized!!!(Even it says 260is tolerated) Thats not your fault...In reallife too it happens, and even 280kts I have experienced during windy Holland times (on IVAO weathers, taken from real stations) ;)

Try to reduce down 230 kias, reduce the turbulence rate on your fs9/fsx.cfg down to 0.40000000 or 0.45000000 (more realistic,no more sudden jumps!),and then you will be able to relieve from speed changes :welldone:
