Even before the hurricane's eye made landfall, more than 26,000 people were without power Saturday morning, said Mark Van Sciver of the North Carolina Joint Information Center. Van Sciver said 7,381 people were staying in 81 shelters.
The news broadcaster has also reported that Blackhawk and C-130 helicopters are ready to respond after the storm passes. As are 280 National Guard troops on the ground in eastern North Carolina.
C-130 helicopters...can't wait to see what they look like.....
