Tims amazing PC-6

I know this aircraft has been discussed on its release here on CBFS, but I just wanted to remind people that it's out there and encourage those who've not tried it to give it a go.

I must confess, I've had it in my SimObjects folder for some months and have only just started using it myself - but it has filled me with awe at it's incredible bush-pilot style characteristics.

I have been using it within Air Hauler (shameless plug :D ) in the early career and company stages to build up my rep and it has done a brilliant job.

Not only can it carry 2,000lbs of freight a good distance, it can land within a few dozen yards and take off on not much more.
I've been using it for two virtual companies - one based at Osnabrück - Atterheide and flying around the smallest of the Aerosoft VFR Airfields strips, and the other based in Kenya, flying around the bumpy, painted-on strips of the 'African Airstrip Adventures' package, where this aircraft is in it's element. Approaches as slow as 50 KIAS mean you rarely need to even go around to recce the strip - 90% are staright-in with 'Greaser' status.

Hats off to Mr Conrad (Piglet)!

I'll post some pics in a short while.

I've just got the Vietnam/Laos Air America airstrips so I might well get that to use from them :)

Some pics -

Here she is at home in Osnabrück:

The paint is a custom job - think I got it from AVSIM.

How many airfields have departing instructions on a board at the holding point? :-O

and this, incredibly (unrealistically? - I don't know), is how short a distance you can bring her to a stop with a touchdown speed of just under 50kts:

Luvvly jubbly :)

Yes, an ideal aircraft for Air Hauler, though I have yet to use it in New Guinea where I'm based. I hope Tim Conrad will reconsider his retirement from designing, because he has produced some great freeware aircraft over recent years.

By the way, I think the same team that recently recently released the Aerosoft DA20-100 Katana are going to be doing a Porter next.

Nice find JD. The Porter, although a great utilitarian aircraft, has to be the duckbill platypus of aviation design. They couldn't even get the fin to match the rudder :)
But they go!

I certainly did that repaint for Tim's PC-6 (but may not be the only one painting it in that scheme) but never uploaded it to AVSIM. I only upload to SOH so could you have got it there perhaps?

I did quite a few repaints of her when she first came out, all available from the SOH library.

It is possible - I check AVSIM every day, which is why I thought it was from there. I visit SOH once in a blue moon...

But I'll have a look at your paints there - thanks for HU :)

EDIT - yes, having read the read me that came with the repaint - it is yours (thanks!) - still don't know where I got it for sure, though.

This is the link you gave for the aircraft:
