Classic British Flight Sim

Morning Chaps.

I've had the Saitek ProFlight Yoke for about 18 months now, and just can't get on with it. My main problem is pitch. I can't get it smooth. My approaches look like my aircraft is a Porpoise on Acid!! Roll, throttles etc; all lovely. But I can't get the pitch smooth.

Does anyone else use one and if so what are you sensitivity/deadzone settings and how do you find it?

I have one along with extra throttle quadrant and pedals. Its the biggest pain in the arse to set up.....I have had to do it recently when I reinstalled the O/S I banged my head on the wall in frustration numerous times.
I will take a look at the null settings etc later when I get chance. Is it pedals as well as yoke??
Re trim I have no problem I have assigned the rocker on the left arm of the yoke to adjust pitch and it seems ok.

No, not pedals. The trim and all my button settings are fine. It's just the damn pitch!

Ah I see , I tend to set up my approaches and as I go for the finals I use engine settings and trim rather than big inputs on the yoke back and forth. But I will check this for you

Hmmm, the same as mine. I just can't get small pitch inputs to be smooth. Ah well. It must just be me!

I find pitch difficult.

Sometimes it's caused by flying the wrong speeds on approach with the trim incorrectly set and sometime the CG is wrong because I didn't check the loads and balance...often a combination of these..

I'm not suggesting this is your problem but I am hinting the the real problem just might be elsewhere

I've tried the yoke for 18 months now, with every aircraft and every setting. The conclusion I have come to is that it's crap.
As an example, I was a member of Royal Air Force Virtual, and at one point in their VC10 squadron. When we did air-to-air refuelling, I could plug in first time using a joystick, with the yoke I hardly ever managed it. I just don't think it's smooth enough to offer precise control.
