It was looooong time coming, but the Virtavia C17 WITH VC has been released.

Probably won't be of interest to many here, but if you fancy it: http://www.virtavia.com/?page_id=373

Thanks for the HU, Dave. I'm downloading the Flight1 wrapper for the FS2004 version as we speak (bit of a slow d/l today)....

The price seems a bit steep, but at least the FS9 version is slightly more reasonable than the FSX model ($44 USD vs $54 USD).

Wow! :-O

At that price I think I'll stick with the one I have - with the A51 Galaxy VC.

If anyone's interested, here's my brief opinion after purchasing the FS9 version:

- Frame rates are good, although initial load times for the textures seem a bit long. This could be more of an issue with my graphics card, though.

- Very impressive-looking VC.

- Flight dynamics are always a subjective judgment, but this one has the right combination of a 'heavy' feel along with the superlative maneuverability C-17s are known for.

- Don't expect PMDG-like systems simulations. However, there is still a fair amount of systems & switches to keep most people happy (APU, moderately detailed fuel & bleed air systems). It's definitely more in-depth than my previous experiences with Alphasim/Virtavia creations, yet it's still a "control+E" plane for those interested in simplicity. There are apparently some features which are only simulated in the FSX version (fuel dump, pressurization panel, anti-skid switches)...however I can't say I really miss them in the FS9 model.

- There's no FMS simulated, although the manual does offer a vague possibility of one in a future upgrade. There are four convincing-looking mock FMS units that display aircraft situation & time data...as well as waypoint data...the latter only if a flight plan is loaded through the default FS9 flight planner.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. If you want a C-17, it's the best game in town for the time being.

Well it's an 'Alphasim" product, so I'm sure it's very good, but I'll stick with the FSD version.

KInd regards
