Been asked a few times before mate and then some.. I think the answer has been the same. It's not an 'off the shelf' font but one stylised for BA. There are probably a whole pile that are 'close'.. just a matter of finding one. I tend to cheat by finding a suitable shot on Airliners then cutting the wording out, cleaning it up then lobbing it at the model.

That said, not much of what I've done was in the BA era
EDIT.. Reading your post again, you didn't say which font you actually need mate.. the Company font or the registration font

If you want the Company font, I've just scanned the cover of an '83 BA timetable (the British Airways bit anyway) and uploaded the jpg
HERE . If that was what you wanted, I can scan the British Airways Landor type from a B737 OAT manual I have

Glad that was what you wanted. I'll say nowt about the Tristars other than it will be nice to fly one other than the one with the registration I have
I'll nip and scan Landor now
Here you go mate
LANDOR
Looking at this scanned at 300dpi, it needs rather more work than the Red Tail lettering. It would have been ok 'original' but you know yourself how many times manuals are scanned. It might be ok
EDIT#2..
Found these bits off ebay..
LandorBits
Better than a poke in the eye but not much

Mylius is the current BA font and is custom designed for them, but the whole logo including speedmarque is available as a dingbat. I personally found the closest free fonts for the Landor lettering style were Optima bold or Zapf Humanist, although there are quite a few similar looking fonts on the various free font websites. For Redtail livery, the closest I could find was Baskerville Old Face Bold although the y isn't quite right. Alternatively have a look around for Calisto which is reasonably close apart from the serifs on the lower case a and y although once on an aircraft, the difference is probably not noticeable. None of the fonts is 100% but probably a lot closer than some repainters have used in the past.
If on the other hand you can get a scan from a photo to work it might be the best bet!
