Worth persevering with Garry - it will be the first thing to onto my new PC (currently inbuild, at long last) - it needs a little studying with the various readmes and tutorials to get the best out of it.

I think that's probably where I went wrong.
I guess this is a later improved version anyhow now
When I get a usuable machine back up and running I maybe will give this another go as it is the sort of thing I'd like to have

Yep 2010 version out a couple of days back.
I used to be able to hand fly the included (fictional) DeltaFlyer from the runway into low Earth orbit and then program an ISS interception and dock without recourse to any docs after a good few hours of loving it to bits.
Never quite finished the Apollo 11 mission I started though. I got as far as Moon orbit insertion and then had trouble with the Lunar Lander. Never mind. If I have a few weeks spare I'll give it another whirl. Apparently the new visuals are incredible.
Especially at the price (free if you've not checked).

Any fusion torch powered 30% lightspeed interstellar vehicles?

I think I'd have to use a faster sim rate... 50 years is slightly too long a flight for me!

Well, the older versions did, sort of! Despite it supposedly using a realistic physics package, some enterprising souls did a Scotty and rewrote the rules of physics - so warp travel was possible, even though you were restricted (more or less) to our own solar system. Not sure if this continues to be supported in the new version, hope it does as one of the joys of this simulator is the addons developed by a thriving community, it would be sad to see some old friends fall by the way side.

I seem to remember from playing around with it a few years ago that the physics model is realistic Newtonian physics so faster than light travel is possible because you don't get any of that nasty Einsteinian relativity coming into play.

I have played around with this sim on and off and it is good fun, will have to have a go with the new version. It can get very complicated and I still haven't managed a transfer between planets or even the earth and moon.
