Not a happy bear!!

i bought a new phone on contract last November...!! i took out insurance, wise me thinks..
the phone is a Blackberry, and i use it alot, £295 to replace the handset.....
i bought it from phones4U, and it's an orange contract, the insurance is with Phones4U!

today i wanted to load some pics from the phone to my pc, i connect the usb, then i get a messege, through the blacberry desktop manager, that i must update the phones software, ok me thinks no problems!!! :dunno:
half way through...update failure on the PC, Reload software on phone!!! :'(
i ring Orange, reply, "your phone is F+_{}@D" ok i say what about a new one, well orange say £15 admin fee..... but your insurance is not with us, so no can do cough up £295  :((

ring phones4U, they say ah because your phone is less than 6 months old, it will cost a minimum of £50 excess!!!!!  i say but what if it's over six months old, they say ah only £10... :-O :-O how they work that out i dont know!!!

so i say what!!!  , i do as instructed or else my insurance / warranty is invalid, and when i do it goes tits, and now i still have to cough you must be joking.... so im not a happy cucumber or bear for that matter, and what about them robbing GITS!!!! :OT:

Neil..

A tale of woe and no mistakin' 8) Hows about contacting Blackberry?? At the least (and discounting your insurance), your new phone should come with a 12months guarantee so.. as I see it, the point of sale was with Phones4U so they should either replace the phone or at a minimum, send it to Blackberry for repair. Sounds like you've been given a bum steer mate (though this is far from uncommon with mobile phone dealers).

it does come with 12months warranty, but, they said there is no priority on service and can take upto 6 weeks, and i would have to pay courior!!!!
what a bunch of robbing gets!!!!

i some times wonder what insurance is for!! or even the good word of a man!!!! :'( :'(

Sorry to hear of your problems Neil.

But in answer to your question - Insurance is supposed to be the umbrella for when it rains - trrouble is, when it's pi**ing down, these days, they want their brolly back.

You need to contact RIM (the manufacturer of the handset) and ask them where to send it to be reflashed. RIM are the hardware and OS vendor ;)
