Calling up the GPS map

I am playing with a Vulcan model and have managed to add a Radio Stack and an Autopilot. When I select either of these, they are superimposed on my 2D cockpit as I expected.

I have also attempted to install a GPS map but when I select the GPS icon, the 2D cockpit jumps to an outside view and no GPS is displayed.

I have installed the GPS icon from simicons1024, I have GPS as a WINDOW and have copied the GPS Window program from another aircraft.

What have I missed?

John :(

Not really sure as I use the the aircraft as the modeler intended (i.e. use the real autopilot that comes with it) but not sure why the GPS would open as a separate window, unless this is how this particular one works on other models? *-)

Check the {windowXX} sewction for the GPS and see if it has an entry for render_3d_window=1. per the SDK:

"Specifies the type of window on which to render. A value of 1 specifies that the gauge will render onto a 3-D view window, not a separate window. Note that you won’t be able to undock this panel."

Probably not the answer but worth a check. If that entry does exist, just change the 1 to a 0, or delete the entire line.

No, that was not the problem.

If I have the autopilot called up and superimposed on the main panel, if I then ask for GPS, the Autopilot remains on its own but the main panel disappears and I see the autopilot panel superimposed on the outside world.

I am using MS FSX.

HI John

So you are saying bringing up the GPS hides the panel?? *-)

Odd :worried:

Further info

When I select GPS the main panel disappears and the outside view goes to the view where you normally see the 4 basic instruments at the bottom of the screen.

Hello Mate :hello:

Yup.. I gathered he was FSX. Just asking if the aircraft he's trying to modify is a native model or one ported over ;) I don't do these cryptic crosswords very well so if I know what the model is and I have it, I can look at what he's trying to do :cpu:
