Bristol Superfreighter AP questions.

Hello,

I have been flying this wonderful aircraft now for a while. Still, I haven“t landed it yet.
Is there a Glide indicator to show if the rate of descent is right during approach?
Also, I have not yet understood how the CDI functions in the aircraft.

Hope someone can help me down to the runway ;)

Best Regards,
Anders

Hi Anders..

There's an OBS gauge to the right of the chrono that will show both ILS beams. Tune your Nav1 to any ILS freq and give it a go ;)

Hello Dave,

Thank you for the answer.
Yes I have looked at the OBS guage next to the Clock after I dialed in the ILS Freq.
But maybe I have been too far away from the ILS beams - I will give it another try.
As I learned to fly the Argosy, I noticed something similar, that I had to be aligned pretty close to the ILS beam, before the AP could "catch" the plane.

Best Regards,
Anders

Hi Anders,

The autopilot on the Superfreighter is very basic and can't capture or hold either VOR or ILS beams. It can only hold pitch and heading. ;)

cheers

Ah yes.. good point Fraser. I'd not considered that you were asking about the AP flying the Freighter down the beams Anders.. sri  As Fraser says, the equipment is there to show you where you need to be but the AP isn't capable of taking you there. Very much hands on but rewarding ;)
