Ain't RW weather clever?

I flew from Bristol to Heathrow this afternoon in RW weather and was surprised to see snow on the ground in Kent and the city. The present Mrs Speedbird's just got back from London and announced that it was snowing and I had to bite my tongue
Do you think if I set the date as 25th December that FS could accurately predict a white christmas?

I just hope it doesn't snow tonight at EGGW. Not funny when you have to work all night in it

Plenty of the white stuff expected Thursday and Friday, oh so pleased I work nights as going home in the early hours means that I avoid all those who have no idea how to drive a car in snow.
Ians post reminds me of the time when I had to ring Manby Met Office for the days forcast before we started flying, he started out with 3/8ths cover base 3500 - tops 4000 so I interrupted him and asked if he could repeat that which he obligingly did then I informed him that we presently have 8/8ths cover with rain there followed an immediate silence......then very quietly he asked if I could call him back when the rain stops!!
Considering that Manby Met Office (which is no more) is only around 20 miles as the crow flies from where our Gliding Club used to be left me somewhat slightly amused!

Nigel,
It's not be unknown for the met briefs at Yeovilton to go along the lines of 'the fog's started lifting already' from the met man as he tours the squadrons to be followed by a tannoy 'Colour Red, forecasting Red'. You do wonder if they walk around with their eyes closed!

We had a recent forecast that said it would soon cloud over with rain later.
It had been raining for a couple of hours already

The best weather forecast I heard was on the Two Ronnies.
In Rye it's dry
In Bagshot it's hot.
In Lissingdown take a brolly.
