Landing Glacier Bay....Oooops!!

Re-installed Glacier Bay after Ians' fine screenshots and tried the landing he attempted......Sorry Ian, should not have berated you after all.
Wonderful scenery
The approach, windy with turbulence.
Looking good, don't know why Ian muffed it!!
Oh 'eck!! Now I do, a gust of unexpected wind sent me sideways!!
Temeratures were very low and the engines took what appeared to be a lifetime to spool up and I had some-one behind me.
Did not know this one was on my tail and nearly above me until I poked my head out.
Have to say I hung my head in shame.
Nigel.

Nice pics. Where's glacier bay. Looks very similar to an airport near the swiss alps I regularly fly.

Glacier bay is a sizeable chunk of Alaska

That airport is Juneau.

Oh, right. Nothing to do with the 12 knots excess speed, Nigel?
Apart from that you do seem to have set the approach up better than I did
I've been flying the 1-11 around the UK today but next week I think I'll take the Boeing back to Juneau and keep practising! Thanks for the pics - hope to see you in Alaska later on!
Ian

Right guys...I took the ETPS 1-11 out for a test flight to see what all the fuss was about....loaded real weather via REX and either i am very skilled or the WX was great....
Extending my upwind for a turn around the Island..
Turning on the late finals...
Lining up...
Rolling out....
Parked up for Tea and Moose soup...
Maybe the time of day was kind to me...but thoroughly enjoyable approach and landing....must visit there soon in the L1011....
Tony
p.s.I am in no way linked to the fabulous test pilots involved in this test...

VATSIM had a pretty big event tonight at Juneau, but I ended up being stuck flying a DC-3 from Fairbanks to Anchorage and back (and what an approach to minimums at ANC it was). Sounded like a lot of fun though.

If Tony was showing off he would have used an A380 in a snowstorm
His skills as a pilot far exceed anything that you or I could ever hope to achieve, Nigel
Let's hope he is generous enough to make an instructional video to help us become half the pilot he is!
Ian
BTW Tony - did you see my two videos of Juneau that I posted while you were away? These are what kicked it off
Juneau thread

Oh the other hand the EPS One-Eleven in Alaska raises serious questions about Tony's navigation??

Juneau is in Scotland Garry not Alaska....

Thought you would know that.....
Anyhow.....An instructional video...hmmm...that could be interesting.....
Ian...saw your Vids matey....you are getting quite good at those little shorts....
As i applied before i am in no way related to the talented pilots landing.....
