Classic British Flight Sim

The recently released a freeware Bell-47, complete with the Gmax source code and permission to make any modifcations you wish, is crying out to be modified to the UK standard that served for 20 years in HM Forces.

Several of us would like a proper Westland Soiux AH1, complete with military pilot head gear. Is the anyone up for having a go as a CBFS project?? Airtrooper has already got a hot of AAC and RM paint jobs on the go, I am pretty sure we just need a few things like aerials added, as yet I have not seen a full list of mods, but I am sure we find them!.

I just posted in the repaints thread, I'd be happy to get pictures if any are needed.

Main mods which come to mind are the panel and probably aerials.

I'm not sure the tanks on the model are quite the right shape either, they don't seem square enough.

I'll think about it as it seems like a relativly simple conversion......

jamesstables, I'd be delighted if you could get some photos of the Sioux for this.

As far as my untrained eye can see, its going to be adding possibly a few aerials, a new panel and changing the clothing on the pilot and adding a mil helmet. Simples

The site above is like us, you have to register to DL the files. I will see what I can do (having flown in both RAF and AAC Soiux), I would like both versions!) in the way of photos. James is part of the Yorkshire Museum and works on the exhibits, so he has better access to stuff than I do here in Spain.

It seems that apart from the tanks shape and some comms gear in front of the panel, there is not a lot more to do, unless adding 'clutter' to the rather basic seating layout is possible?

That panel shot looks slightly different to other Sioux cockpits I've seen, certaintly XT242 is different. I'll see if I have a photo of one somewhere.

Hi james, when I had a close look, that panel is from a German registered aircraft. I guess there is little to stop private owners making mods (like the GPS) after they aquire the aircraft. A lot less paperwork than any mods carried out in service, that's for sure!!

That's what I like to hear, 'not a lot more to do´. But I have noticed some antenia and lights on the tail of it which will be easy enough to add.

I made a good choice taking this on. Clutter in the back............I'll look into it for you but it may not possible as you say. I won't know till I look at the source. I don't have it personally but I was aware of it. I'll get it when I return to the UK on Sunday and have a look at the source and give a yes or no re adding some clutter.

Dave, If that's an offer, I'll be in touch when I need a hand as you are a GMAX Pro (In my mind anyway) as your help will be gratefully recieved (especially when it comes to reshaping the tanks). Looking forward to UKMIL returning as well.
